Controversially I'm going to have to say Sweden, cause it's irreplaceable.

I'm also going to have to say Peanut Butter on the grounds that Marmite is gross.

Cake or Death.... Hmmm...

"Uh, death, please. No, cake! Cake! Cake, sorry. Sorry...
You said death first, uh-uh, death first!
Well, I meant cake!
Oh, all right. You're lucky I'm Church of England!"

Baths or Haircuts?

A tenner in my pocket without a doubt - that's any day, whereas a Satruday only comes once a week...

Gin with tonic,
Vodka with orange juice
But whiskey preferably...

Surprise or meticulous planning?

Hmmm... well I'm guessing by the Vodka in my kidneys that I had a very good night Friday night (because I hardly ever drink vodka) and so I can only assume that that's why I woke up at work on a Saturday.

However the au-pair cooking meatballs is probably not allowed at work and will probably be considered to be a breach of security by the security guard who's come to see why the hell the security alarm is going off becuase I don't know what the hell the code is... So that'll probably get me fired.

However having never been to Carlisle I've got to admit that I've always had an irrational dislike to it, so I'd have to go with the getting myself fired option.

What? Why are you all looking at me?

Saturday, Sweden, 8-4, gin, Carlisle.

I love Carlisle, just because of an excellent cinema they have there. I've been to Carlisle twice - the first time, we were in Carlisle and just decided to go to the cinema. The second time, it was at the end of a 60-mile drive specifically to go to that cinema.

Toilet next to yours easily - unless you're talking a urinal, in which case probably the train, unless there is a suitable shoulder distance between the two urinals.

Did that make any sense?

Trains. I have a story about a urinal.

dregan told the LiveJournal masses:

Some guy checked out my penis in the Ashby toilets today.

I was desperate for a piss. However, both cubicles were occupied, so I had to use the urinals. So of the row of five, I took the one on the farthest right, and started the flow. Ahh, bliss.

Someone came in and stood beside me. Beside me, like. There were four empty urinals, and I was at the farthest right, so he had a choice of three that wouldn't have broken toilet etiquette. But I digress. This is turning into the longest piss ever.

I'm cursed with an unfortunate habit of glancing around me at all times, and I happen to shoot a glance to my left at eye level. The gent's eyes are looking directly down and to his right - and following his line of sight, it's straight at my junk. I'm sufficiently stunned that I don't have the presence of mind to look away instantly, and for a good few seconds I'm gawping at his head. He suddenly looks up, makes brief eye contact and looks away sharply. Thankfully, I run out of piss and can zip up and go. I didn't even stop to wash my hands, I just had to get out of there [and I hate not washing my hands. A thin coating of slimy pissglobules? No thanks].

Scary. Strangest part is, I can't remember much about the guy's face or anything. He had black hair, I remember that, but not much else..

Not really a 'toilet' I suppose, but

EDIT: Keeping the thread going, cold coffee or warm beer?

Why thankyou! But... "Many natural human instincts often amaze me. Like motherhood. And masturbation." Anyone who can juxtapose those two 'instincts' needs some sort of help!

And to answer the question, hot beer. Alcohol every time!

Paradoxically, iced coffee is delicious, as long as you take a little time in its preparation. Merely cold coffee is the devil's foul piss, though.

Biscuit or cake?

Actually, that's a good point - iced coffee is fantastic.

Here's a recipe you can make right now, guaranteed delicious!

1tsp coffee granules (decaf is fine)
1tsp sugar
3 ice cubes
(optional) Sprinkling of nutmeg

Place above in a tall glass, fill with chilled milk, and stir.

If you take 2 sugars in your hot coffee, or none - trust me, it needs exactly one spoon of sugar to make this delicious without being too sweet. This is for an approximately 1/2 pint glass.

You'll all be thanking me for this when the predicted 'hottest summer ever' hits

[recipe]

I am going to try that RIGHT NOW. Will be back shortly with results.

EDIT: Most palatable! With a dash of cocoa powder it tastes wonderful.

There's also the marvellous Cappucino Blast, which works as follows:

Coffee icecream [vanilla or chocolate or ALL THREE work well]
Coffee [~1tsp per scoop of icecream]
Milk [to mix the coffee in]
Crushed ice [or normal ice whacked with a big hammer]
Blender/whisk

Make a paste with the coffee and milk.

Smash up the icecream in a bowl so it's not solid, then add the coffepaste. Throw in the ice, beat the shit out of it some more and drink.

Amazing. Used to cost ?2 from Dunkin Donuts in Yorkgate, and was even better then, what with their proper machines and that.

We have a nice 11-7 shift that steathily evades rush hour and allows me to wander past Tescos on my way home just when they put out all the reduced cake And also I can justifiably say that watching Neigbours in work is doing my job!

Warm beer beats cold coffee but lukewarm coffee beats lukewarm beer

And back to the very first one, Sweden beats kidneys cos without Sweden we wouldn't have Ikea or ABBA.

Personally I figure you'd just have to go and use a dialysis machine every couple of days. Plus, give it a few years and they'll be able to grow you some new kidneys from scratch, so, I'm definitely thinking Sweden.

Err... warm beer, iced coffee, decaf (although I don't know why...) and of course:

I guess on the plus side if they sell your des kyou've got a story, but that being said I'd be a little perturbed to come into work to find my desk was missing...

There's nothing wrong with a Neighbours theme!
But to answer your question, ignoring would be the better option. Especially after witnessing several middle aged colleagues doing Peter Kay type Amarillo impressions at a birthday do this weekend.

Amanshu was bold enough to comment:

Why do I get the feeling there's some kind of story there? Or is that just me?

They sold your desk on your day off?!?!?

They did. And then got annoyed with me because I hadn't heard a message they had left me telling me they were going to do so. . And now alternate between ignoring me and annoyingly informing me of every small thing they are going to do, "just in case" of something unspecific. Freaks. It's quite funny for now, particularly since she's leaving at the end of next month.

But anyway, Spooks, on the basis that it's fantastic and I've never seen Hustle. Unless you mean THE Hustle. In which case still Spooks, but it's close. - I think this chap might be doing the hustle, but I'm not sure.

I'm very torn between Spooks and Hustle, but on reflection would probably choose the completely fantastic Spooks. It has more quotable quotes, if you get my drift... (And Tom and Adam!)

But am still very excited by Hustle - oh the trials and tribulations...

I've never seen Hustle I'm afraid, and I've only watched a couple of episodes of Spooks, despite Kelly and Malcolm's best intentions, so I'll go with Spooks on the grounds that I don't know any better

Kelly was found to have mentioned:

I assume they had the right to sell your desk? Or something? I'm all confused on how they could just sell your desk. They had a replacement lined up right?

And when you say every little thing, are you saying like "I'm just going to the loo" or summat else? They sound a little bit weird...

Hmmm... tough call...

I assume you're talking specifically the Star Trek films rather than the general idea of Star Trek versus the idea of Star Wars (by which I guess I mean... You know, I don't think I'm going to be able to explain what I mean. How annoying).

I mean Star Trek is a much more rich universe, but Star Wars has a much more interesting overreaching story. Except there's also all the other Star Wars stuff, so I guess that has a pretty rich universe as well.

Errr... Firefly?

star trek then. It might have a few humdingers of a bad movie, but at least it doesn't have some git working backwards in time to change them and try and make them "better". I mean the first time it was a nice idea, bring them up into this day and age, make it a little bit more exciting. That's fair enough.

Then he did again.

Or in other words: Star Trek has yet to find anything as terrifying as Jar-Jar Binks...

Hustle, and Star Trek.

I've never experienced this 'JarJar Binks' character and I have no desire to after the mind-numbing boredom of the first three films (or whichever daft way you want to number them - the three they made years back).

Having said that, I do appreciate the fact that 99.999792% of the world disagrees with me. At least

Tough one to call Neighbours was good a few years ago but it all went downhill to me the moment Harold came back but, i have to admit i did watch it every night for years. Eastenders is ok but nowhere as good as Corrie but, if i had to choose between Eastenders and Neigbours i would have to go for Neighbours simply because no one thinks they are the mafia in neighbours and it doesnt have that annoying drum thing.

Belts, they hold your trousers up. I may be slightly biased because I completely eschewed shoes and socks for a few months a while back.

The rest of them:
Hustle, Star Wars [Trek is good, Star Wars is better] and neither Neighbours nor Eastenders. Get that off my television plzkthx

Wow! D'you know, in all these years I never knew you felt that way. I personally have never seen any of the star wars films at all, and in no way feel that my life has been the worse for it. I've always thought that some day I'll give it a go,just in case, but it's not really a very high priority.

So it fills me with delight to encounter others who share my not-particular-enthusiasm for the subject.

Belts. It's pointless buying trousers otherwise.

Spooks.

Bizarrely, I'd been planning to write "Pears or pairs", but then I thought it might provoke "nice juicy pair"-type comments, so I changed it.

Pears.

Oh, what the hell - let's just go for it:

Dogs, unless it's one of those small rat type ones... They're just annoying.

And I can't choose between salted and sweet - the consumption of one tends to lead to a craving for the other.

Arggghhhh....!

You go away for one week and...:

Cats, they're independent.
Ready Salted, they're nicer.
Salted, just cause.
Mangoes - especially ripe ones. Mmmmmm...
Lace up - they're more secure.
Desktop, laptop keyboards are notorious for RSI, and desktop is more upgradeable.
Dread is more exciting.
Belts are much more fun than socks. You can use belt hooks.
Pears are nicer.
And of course a nice juicy Pair is always to be appreciated .
Stairs so I can get to my flat. And my girlfriend's flat. And into my parents house.

In fact the only place that doesn't involve a step is my workplace, and I think that says it all really doesn't it?

And relax...

I'm sure I read something somewhere that Cat's will always go to the person in a room that hates cats, because they'll be the one person who isn't staring at them, or is staring at them obliquely. Cats see straight staring as a challenge, and so they'll deliberately avoid the fight...

Is the distinction that if imortal you would not age but could be killed by forexample being run over by a bus and if invulnerable you would be completely indestructable?

If so I would have to go with the first cause otherwise you would end up floating in space for all eternity waiting for the big crunch.

If you're immortal you won't die of natural causes (but there's nothing to stop you aging, per se...

If you're invulnerable, you can't be killed (but can still die of old age).

So basically, would you rather know you had your full normal lifespan to live, or have an unlimited life but be able to die at any point in it?

True, but then Mr T's life doesn't depend on a special suit with a number of large important buttons on his chest:
http://tinyurl.com/bk62t

I mean really, you'd just have to keep hitting the system reset button lots, and he'd be helpless! Even worse if going up against force users, they won't even have to be anywhere near you - a quick force tap and your down!

Or in other words I pick Mr T...
