Just noticed myself humming 'Deck The Halls With Bows Of Holly" as I insert 70 staples in various documents. Thought I'd share the festive cheer with other daddyorgers:

I was whistling I Saw 3 Ships Go Sailing By yesterday, followed by God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.
I didn't think anything of it until now, maybe it's a The Daddy curse striking us all?

I've had my first Christmas card!!! Hurrah!!!

I should point out that it was as a result of my washing machine breaking down. My lovely mum offered to buy me a new one as an early Christmas present and so sent the resulting cheque in a Christmas card. Still, it was a festive greeting and it arrived in the post.

It's October. OCTOBER.

Christmas is still another two and a half months away! That's nearly a quarter of a year away!

Plus, since this thread started at least a week has passed and none's getting into the New Year Spirit now are they?

No. You're not. So there.

(Bah humbug)

so what if people want to look forward to the festive season earlier than they are 'supposed' to?

i don't really celebrate christmas but if the impending celebrations put a smile on people's faces then thats a good thing, surely?

by this time of year everyone's just about had enough and needs something to look forward to. so instead of looking at it as 2 and a half months of cynical advertising and present-related stress, why not look at it as a quarter of the year when everyone starts to feel more positive and charitable?

bring on the singing, i say...

66 Days 4 Hours 22 Minutes 13 Seconds

GAME TIME!!

Guess the carol/festive type song:

1. Pa rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum
2. The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight
3. There's no need to be afraid
4. But he waved goodbye saying "Don't you cry I'll be back again some day"
5. Sweet singing in the choir
6. But everybody knows it's hard to be alone at this time of year
7. You?re a bum, you?re a punk, you?re an old sloven junk
8. Make the Yuletide gay
9. But if you really hold me tight, all the way home I'll be warm
10. I hope you have fun
11. Oh, what a laugh it would have been if Daddy had only seen
12. And folks dressed up like Eskimos
13. Don't you lock the doors, you know that sweet Santa Claus is on his way
14. Later we'll have some pumpkin pie
15. And "Io, io, io"
16. Think of all the fun I?ve missed, think of all the fellas that I haven?t kissed
17. Giddy-yup giddy-yup giddy-yup let's go
18. So be good for goodness sake!
19. Dreams of Santa, dreams of snow
20. But you can do the job when you're in town
21. Mary Bradley waits at home, in the nuclear fall out zone
22. Do the fairies keep him sober for the day?
23. You got the feel you're on solid ground
24. A crowded room, friends with tired eyes
25. And heaven and nature sing
26. Welcome to my Christmas song, I'd like to thank you for the year
27. Christmas comes this time each year
28. Ring out those bells tonight
29. The mood is right, the spirits up
30. On a cold winter's night that was so deep
31. You?ll be rocking in your stocking
32. I won't ask for much this Christmas, I won't even wish for snow
33. So the Holy Bible say
34. Time for presents and exchanging kisses
35. Don we now our gay apparel
36. Brightly shone the moon that night
37. They said there'd be snow at Christmas, they said there'd be peace on earth
38. Peace on earth, and mercy mild
39. It?ll be cold, so cold, without you to hold
40. Star with royal beauty bright

Guess who's on late shift TODAY!! :D

I can't believe it!

I'd always thought this line was "You're an old slut on junk"! I'm much happier now I know it doesn't really have such a rude word in it.

I quite enjoyed thinking it was "you're an old slut on junk" (which I also did). It may have to drop behind "Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead, becoming my second favourite Christmas song.

Ooh ok, lets go. Suddenly I feel like I'm back in primary school sat cross legged on the hall floor singing along with 200 out of tune pre-pubescent kiddies.

11. That one about Mommy kissing Santa Claus
12. Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire
18. Santa Claus is Coming to Town
20. Winter Wonderland
28. Little Donkey
32. All I want for christmas is you - mariah carey
34. Is it that Cliff Richard one?
36. In the bleak midwinter

It's 'Merry Christmas Everyone' by the Welsh Elvis Presley himself, Mr. Shakin' Stevens.
