Spanners.
You have been sued.

Moving on, though:

Kelly spins a 1 and lands on "Twins! Take two pegs. Receive 5,000 from each player." Good grief, Kelly, that's THREE children you've got now. I'm officially concerned. However, you're 25,000 richer for it.

Mildred, next, proceeds along the Lower Path and spins a 7, bringing her to the dastardly TAX square. The spinner is spun, and the number is 4, meaning that Clara has to pay her tax! 6,000 from you going into the State coffers, Clara. Maybe that'll teach you not to be so litigious.

We return to Spanners, who takes the higher route and spins a 9, bringing him all the way across to "If you are the last player to reach this square, have another go at once." He isn't, though.

Swoop next - spins a 2 and moves to "House fire! Claim insurance of 60,000." Congratulations, Swoop, you mercenary old arsonist!

We await Arabstrap's route decision before play can continue. Over to you, Strapman.

In a manoeuvre worthy of Marty McFly himself, Arabstrap has managed to offer his decision slightly before I asked it. Let's not think about that too much. He takes the lower road, spins a 1, and therefore lands on "Film royalties. Receive 65,000." Looks like the 'Strap's making a comeback!

Clara next - spins a 3 and lands on "Attend gala charity movie premiere. Pay 18,000." And, surprise surprise, these very monies go directly into the pocket of our very own Arabstrap the Actor!

Having spent a week in Iceland recovering from the birth of my twins, I'd like to introduce firstly the slightly belated Flark Junior The First, and now Flark Junior The Mediocre and Flark Junior The Bottom.

I hope you enjoy them.

In honour of your recently-named twins, Kelly, I'm pleased to report that you have spun a 1, taking you to "Win a marathon - receive 10,000". I never knew you had it in you.

Mildred - you have spun a 7, taking you to the fairly rubbish "If you are the last player to reach this space..." square. You aren't. Sorry.

Spanners, then: a nice round number 4, brings him neatly to "Option to buy Status Symbol. Pay 28,000." What do you think, Spanman?

Spanners, you have been awarded an antiques collection with a resale value of 5,000. Guard it well!

Swoop, then: You have spun a 9, bringing you to the fated square on which you too must choose which path to take. What's it to be? Also, you've been randomly awarded an oil well - resale value 8,000.

Arabstra next - takes the Low Road, spins a 2 and lands on "A daughter! Take a pink peg. Receive 2,000 from each player." Who'd have thought you were the parental type?

Over to Clara, who spins a 7 and goes to the Stop square! Clara, you are now the proud owner of a luxury yacht - resale value 7,500. WHich path would you like?

A yacht! Very useful round these parts when it floods.
Low road please.

Low road it is.

Kelly, next, spins a meagre ONE and therefore arrives at... Oh crikey. It's that square again. Hold onto your wallets - Kelly's landed on "Sue any one player for 50,000." Let's get this over with, Kelly - who's your victim?

Well there certainly is evil afoot for you, Arabstrap, as being the last to reply to my personal message with an interesting piece of information you have condemned yourself to a second suing for ?50,000. Soz.

The upper path for me please, with a straight back and a steady hand. I'm trying to encourage my children to be upstanding and decent members of the community.
Hey you! You there with the glass of wine! Haven't you heard of passive drinking? YOU'RE KILLING MY CHILDREN! And you with the nylon shirt! KEEP YOUR FILTHY STATIC CHARGES AWAY FROM MY LITTLE ONES!

I think fatherhood is getting to me...

Please may I adopt a peg, I mean, a child?
I am feeling a bit sorry for all those lonely pegs without homes to go to, plus a bit inadequate childwise compared to Kelly with her trio of Flarks, Swoop and his alarmingly well-protected brood, etc.! If I don't claim any financial benefits on the basis of having the adopted child, then it wouldn't make any difference to the game at all really - so, Malcolm, I know it isn't in the rules, but I'm sure you wouldn't want to deny me and Rufus Pifflehead the chance to have a little peg of our own? Would you?
I promise to look after it and give it a good upbringing.
Please!

KA-POW! After several days' absence (caused primarily my my losing, for a day, the Pocket PC that contains all the player information), we are now back in action. And, my, WHAT action! There's been suing, threats, vociferous parenting and adoption attempts - whatever next!

A propos your request, Mildred: I am pleased to tell you that it isn't too late to have a child by rightful and proper means. Far be it from me to set myself up as some kind of expert on the details your ovulation, but I have it on good authority that there will yet be other chances to acquire offspring by legal and rightful means. However, if you fail to do so then we shall return to this issue after all said chances have been passed.

Let us now, though, get back to business. After the legal nightmare that was the case of Kelly vs. Arabstrab (2005), we move to Mildred The Currently Childless, who spins a 3, bringing her to "Art auction. Pay 20,000." Fortunately, Mildred, you are the artist among us and are therefore exempt. Maybe you should look into using the money you've just saved to fund an IVF programme?

Over to Spanners, who also spins a 3, bringing him to a rather less profitable "Commodities tax. Pay 10,000 per Status Symbol." Well, if you will keep flaunting your wealth... 20,000 paid.

Swoop, next, takes the Upper Path of Righteousness and spins a 6, sending him hurtling straight to "Casino. Receive 20,000. Keep it or risk it for 80,000." What do you reckon, Swoop? In a gambling mood? If so, place your bets...

OK, so Swoop has gambled. He has gambled on the numbers 2 and 8. And the spinner has been spun. And the number that has been spun is...

SEVEN.

Sorry, Swoop - you leave with nothing.

Arabstrap next - spins a 5, bringing him to the dreaded TAX square. The Spinner of Doom is spun again - this time it's a 10, meaning poor heirless Mildred must pay her tax. 4,500 is accordingly deducted from you, Mildred.

Clara, next, spins a 10, sending her blasting all the way to the far end of the Low Road to the "If you are the last player to reach this space..." square. Again, she isn't, so nothing ensues.

Another Monday, another Gala Charity Movie Premiere. This time it's Kelly who is attending, having spun a 3 and landed on said square. Kelly, you owe the actor amongst us 18,000 - ARABSTRAP! Are the tables turning again? Or is the complexity of the Kelly/Arabstrap relationship simply too complicated for the rest of us to comprehend? Either way, the money is duly transferred.

Mildred now spins a 10, sending her hurtling to "African safari. Pay 25,000." Since there's no pilot around here, it's straight to the Daddy Revenue for that.

Over to Spanners, who spins a 4 and moves to "Buy out partnership. Pay 10,000." Not only that, but the 10,000 goes directly to Kelly Legal Enterprises LLP.

Swoop, then: spins a 1 and lands on the singularly uninveresting "If you are the last player to reach this space..". Arabstrap then spins a 5 and does the same.

Well, Malcolm, I am glad you have such high hopes for my fertility, this is quite reassuring news - although I must say that I do think it is rather unsympathetic of you to be consistently referring to me, ever since I enquired about adoption, with epithets which mock my barren state ('heirless Mildred', 'Mildred the currently childless', etc.)!! Poor Mildred!

Oh, cruel Malcolm! My ovaries are most offended

O Mother Mildred; Mildred, Giver of Life; Mildred, the Eternally Sacred Feminine; Mildred, Goddess of Fertility; Mildred of the Earth,

It is now my sad duty to inform you that you have, as of your last go, now passed by the last "An Offpring!" square. Though I don't dispute that the river of mankind flows from your gametes, on this occasion you, O Fruitful One, appear not to have had any children after all.

Would you therefore like me to enact your earlier proposition?

Here is a giraffe I met whilst on safari:

I also saw elephants, lions, hippos, werewolves, tarantulas, polar bears, monkeys, wildebeest, gnus, zebras, mice, parakeets, flamingoes, rhinos, gazelles, snakes and warthogs.

Oh, bugger!
What disappointing news I find on returning from my lovely African safari! Tut tut! I was feeling very chilled out after all those delightful giraffes and now, darn it, I'm going through a virtual menopause.

If you could just enact my earlier proposition, Malcolm, that would be great - I'd like a nice little blue peg, I mean, a nice little boy child, please. If he could look as similar to me and Rufus Pifflehead as possible (i.e. peg-shaped), that would be great. Actually, if poss, could I get twins - one boy, one girl? I leave it in your hands.

I'd love to, but it won't fit in the spare bedroom, let alone all the baby gros I've knitted In Preparation for Motherhood.
