This is a horrifically addictive and fun game. Start on the easy level!

After you've progressed to Medium it will record your scores and ask what high score table to put them in. I've created a board called 'tddo' so we can have our own little forum challenge.

http://www.handdrawngames.com

I've beaten easy and medium, working on hard at the moment.

Oooh, nice score there - but not quite enough to beat me

You may also like this variant - Onslaught. Check out the 'How to Play' section for crazy combos.

http://ec2-1.playr.co.uk/onslaught/

Possibly even more addictive than DTD. My best level so far is 149.

Hmmm... you guys seem to be better than me at this. How many waves do you get in a game?

Oho, this is fighting talk! Let's see what I can do

If you post any more of this stuff can you clearly label them as "not safe for Mrsham"?!

I think it's 50 ...

EDIT: Mwahaha! But stupidly I forgot to check the number of waves. The best weapon is the pellet gun, also know as the cheap-ass wall.

Yay, managed it on my first time through medium. Just by the skin of my teeth though, only 2 people left standing, thanks to those dastardly flying machines

By noticing and starting to exploit the fact you get bonus points for forcing a wave early (button in top right)

Also points are only indirectly related to lives I think, so if you let 10 little grey critters go at the start but take out the flying boogers of death at the end then you could possibly get more points than someone who does the reverse.

I'm crap at the hard level. I was too ashamed to put my two scores on the board ...

Yeah I haven't got very far into it, but don't be shy, let's get some scores up there!

Anyway, my best score on the hard level was acheived by ripping off your high-scoring design for the medium level

I've also been experimenting with an 'I' formation, check out some of my more recent layouts. I think it has potential.

I had a go at the '4,000 gold challenge' but they don't let you keep track of the challenges on our scoreboard.

Edit: Wow, Uchian's ripping up the Hard scores!

Edit 2: Gah, 3 points short!

Ooh and a mighty score there on Medium from the Swoopster, well played sir!

Here are some good strategy videos, I've been experimenting with the second layout. Fiddly to set up but all-powerful after it's all built.

Hmmm... it looks like my mistake was to have lots of towers upgraded a little bit rather than a few upgraded loads. I must rectify this error...

Once you upgrade a Squirt tower to a Typhoon tower it becomes all-powerful, only trouble is the final upgrade costs 290. Most of the decent builds so far include at least 3/4 typhoon towers and dozens and dozens of the little peashooters to guide the monsters around with.

Also, you can click on anyone's name on the high-score table to see what build they used for that game.

Ooh, nice maze! Clean and simple. I think getting big firepower on them early is a good way to go for lotsa points on normal at least.

I really want to do a maze that uses those bash towers effectively, but they're so expensive ... No, I'm going home now.

Definitely, I was very surprised at the simple elegance of Swoop's solution here... note the complete lack of peashooter upgrades (everything else maxed, of course). My only concern would have been the two diagonal gaps I've marked here, an unlucky shot on a spawn baddie would have given the spores a free route straight out of the paperclip (which is what I've just christened his strategy )

Looks like there's already another one!

http://www.vectortd.com/

Edit: Awww, there's no group hi-score table. I seem to have got 16th place in the Switchback leaderboard though

Edit 2: Oooh, looks like you can set up challenges with other players too. And win virtual trophies!

I like vector TD particularly the different modes that you can put the towers in. I wonder if he'll backport the features to the other games.

The trouble with Vector TD is it's more an exercise in not spending your cash and building up as much interest as possible. Actually getting to the end is too easy, even now it's gone up to 50 levels. Hmph. I'm going back to Onslaught.

I quite like the Vector TD one. It's not as good as the Desktop TD as far as sheer fun goes, but its got a few interesting changes. With the money consideration, given the grid placement of the towers and the set path of the mobs, I think the it adds an interesting level. OK, you can rattle through the first few levels easily, but if you do them by the skin of your teeth, you'll have much more cash saved up for the big guns which you'll need later.
The addition of different levels of tower is interesting too, the little red towers are rubbish damage wise, but the higher levels don't do the splash damage if the small ones.
There are a lot of ideas here, I reckon that this is a burgeoning area of design.

I was playing this one today:

http://www.master-of-defense.com/

However, you can only play for free for an hour in the shareware version. Only a tenner to register for the full game though, and there's an additional 'hard' mode once you complete the basic game. Experience points are an interesting addition, you can buy new tower types, upgrades for existing towers, increase the toughness of your villagers or boost your income each round per surviving villager.

I think it's true, it's the personalised scoreboard system that makes this one one of the best. I've been playing other variants for a couple of weeks, have there been any changes lately?
