First off, here's the call to arms which started a lot of this off:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2604992359869591076

For those who don't know, 'Anonymous' is the name taken by members of 4chan, and other splinter sites, when waging internet wars, much safer than having individual identities which are much easier to trace / prosecute.

Here's a summary of most of the work done so far:
http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/PROJECT_CHANOLOGY

The main organising site can sometimes be found here:
http://www.partyvan.info/index.php/Project_Chanology
Although $cientology are hacking and DDOSing back as fast as they're being hacked and DDOS'd, so it's up and down like a yo-yo.

Anonymous press release:
http://anon.7556.googlepages.com/pressrelease.html

Letter to Anonymous from CoS survivors:
http://forum.exscn.net/showthread.php?t=3448

Coups so far:

Most phone and fax lines down. Several smaller websites down. Main website ($cientology.org) still up but only a snapshot version - none of the forms etc are interactive.

http://www.zshare.net/download/6818368a43ef18 <- complete set of 'secret' documents, which $cientology tries to hide from the lower level members, and charges vast amounts of money for.

Many reports in mainstream news media, including Fox News, NBC, etc.

Picketing of every $cientology scentre worldwide, organised for 10th Feb.

The site which was shielding $cientology.org from DDOS attacks withdrew their protection once they were threatened with having their defence of the CoS publicised.

CoS offered $5k rewards for the names of anyone involved. We now have entire teams of Anonymouses filing hundreds of fake reports to make it impossible to locvate the real reports.

All law firms acting for the CoS being treated to many of the delights listed above!

Other useful sites:

www.xenu.net <- point people here if they need to know more about $cientology and it's evils.

http://theunfunnytruth.ytmnd.com/ <- YTMND site summarising the worst crimes they've committed so far

http://www.xenu.net/archive/media/time910605.html <- Time magazine exposes the truth about CoS.

Specifics of some of the naughtiness the CoS have pulled off:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Freakout
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Snow_White

Dictionary of $cientology terms:
http://www.faqs.org/faqs/$cientology/dictionary <- change the $ to an s, thedaddy.org has a word filter in place.

Anyway, all of the above is just the tip of the iceberg, this is the biggest mass action I've ever seen undertaken on the internet. The encyclopaediadramatica link above is a good jumping-off point to find more info / links.

Before taking any actions yourself, bear in mind that
a) There are plenty of things you can usefully do without breaking any laws, e.g. stickers, posters, flyers, spreading the word generally.
b) Do not post here about any illegal activities you may or may not be considering.
c) TheDaddy.org does not condine criminal activities (such as hacking and DDOS attacks) in any way, shape or form.
d) even if you don't want to get involved, grab some popcorn and sit back to watch the sparks fly, this should be epic

That's some pretty epic activism there.

I wonder if someone has thought about putting a petition on the 10 downing street site about getting $cientology banned.

EDIT: http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/-$cientology/

There you go

It's great to see such an organised fight against them
TheDaddy.org in no way condones vigilante or criminal activity but it sure opposes $cientology 100%!

Alas, it appears to have been taken down.

Nope, it's still there - it's just that this forum replaces the S with a dollar symbol (except in the thread titles - why is that, by the way?) so the link won't work directly. Easiest thing is to click on the link, then in the resulting Page Not Found window replace the $ with an S and try again.

loads of useful stuff

Brilliant - thanks for this, Demian! I'd been wanting to read/see about this but didn't really know where to start to get the background etc. Excellent stuff.

However...

a) There are plenty of things you can usefully do without breaking any laws, e.g. stickers, posters, flyers, spreading the word generally.

Remember that putting stickers & posters on things that you don't own is almost always against the law! We knew someone who put posters up all over York advertising an event she was holding; the council then used the contact details she supplied on the posters to get in touch with her and threaten to prosecute if she didn't take them all down immediately. Which was nice, as she was a pillock.

I'll take out that replacer function. We put it in a few years ago when it was a bit dangerous to be openly slagging off scientiology on the net so that we'd evade their searches.
These days they have so many enemies we really don't need to worry about it!

By the looks of it there are a couple of petitions out there:

The afore mentioned ban scientology - http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/-scientology/

Make scientology illegal - http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/anti-scientology/

Rename the 'church' of scientology - http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/scientologyno/

Cut ties between the Police and Scientology - http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/PoliceandCoS/

Oops... in that case I seem to have inadvertently broken the law about 40 times all over Longsight and Asda Hulme

Ah well, they were only 'Scientology Kills - www.xenu.net' stickers so not traceable to anyone.
