To celebrate the launch of the Games board on TDDO, and to confirm once and for all my lack of any common sense whatsoever, I shall be presenting these one per day for the next year. I'm sure I'll be wishing I'd never started this within a month, but here goes anyway

I loved the orginal GTA, it was my guilty secret when I was revising for my A-levels. Whever the work got on top of me I'd fligk on the computer and mow down some pedestrians. I also really enjoyed the fart button!

10. Doom: The Roguelike!

If you know what the above means, this needs no introduction. If not, you'll be utterly baffled Quite probably the daftest and most violent roguelike after Dwarf Fortress's adventure mode.

I'd just like to interject here. I've been trying a lot of these, and I have to say that Doom Roguelike is amazing fun.

If you ever played the actual Doom (and if you didn't, well tsh) this is familiar and yet very strange.
I've played a lot of 'Roguelike' games before but this one, while looking like a confusing and alphanumeric horrorshow is actually pretty easy to understand. Check out the manual briefly then have a go. At several points I thought I hope there's a button for such-a-thing, and everytime there was.

I'm on level 8 of Phobos, and I'm still in that same 'semi confident - got all the ammo / scared for my life - what's next' mode that Doom had me feeling in 1992.

Wahey, glad someone's still reading. Now learn to play Dwarf Fortress instead, it's 10x better

Speaking of which,

14: Dwarf Fortress

http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/

The deepest, and possibly greatest game ever created. Dungeon-building Roguelike RTS. Words fail to do it justice on any level (and there are now 200, depthwise alone!). Give it 3 hours and you'll be hooked for life.

The game that was snatched up by Valve and remade as Portal. Mindbending puzzle fun with the Quake 2 Engine, I believe.

After pondering the board I've decided that bumping this thread every day only serves to detract from the others, so henceforth I'll be updating twice weekly with games to cover every day! You still get 365 free games, just in fewer larger updates

Anyway...

17: Duty and Beyond
Pizza-based point -n-click adventure.
http://more.bigbluecup.com/games.php?action=detail&id=747

18: FreeCiv
Free version of Civilization. If you never have, now is the time!
http://freeciv.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

19: Orbiter
Spaceflight Sim. For hardcore gamers and simheads only!
http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk

20: Baron Von Puttyngton Versus The Cancerous M.C. Escher Maze of Cheese
I couldn't possibly attempt a better description than the title!

That probably makes sense - I'm loving the selection though! I just don't have enough time to play them all Dice Wars in particular I'm finding highly addictive!

That's... mad... It's a shame the arrow keys don't turn the camera though - I think it would make it a bit more intuitive than having to fiddle with the mouse...

Excellent, always good to know people are reading!

And just to show how helpful we are in the games forum, here's a link to a freeware Dice Wars for the Nintendo DS. It's also only 1mb! Highly addictive indeed!

Seriously. Dude. WTF.

The scary end of level guy came out of this game to say:

I HAVE TOUCHED PEOPLE ON THE INSIDES

IT'S NOT LIKE IN THE BOOKS

This game makes me want to not work out how to finish the next level. I'm sorry Mr End of Level Guy! I'm sorry your dad died and that ahh I can't find number 15.
