Google have just released a new browser to rival Internet Explorer and Firefox which can be found here: http://www.google.com/chrome

I'm using it now and will let you know my thoughts when I've spent more time with it.

Anyone else had a go yet?

Installed it last night, alll excited at the fancy new features, and it crashed within 10 minutes with a memory exception.

*gazes into crystal ball*

I see reasons to switch to Linux in the following reply from General...

However, I'll give it another few goes and report back if it starts behaving better.

It's not available for Linux yet so I'm using it on Windows.

It's very fast and hasn't crashed on me yet.

Yep, I've been playing with it a bit this afternoon and it seems much better behaved. I love the way it sets up a new browser window preloaded with things like bookmarks and most-visited websites. Definitely going to be sticking with it for a while unless it starts crashing again.

I try and keep my browser as minimal as possible so I'm loving Chrome.

I must say I was skeptical, but one of the things I hate most is a tab in Firefox locking up and taking the application with it so the concept of a browser that doesn't do that is awesome.

Have you tried Opera? I may be wrong, but I believe that many of the thing touted by Chrome (including this) are already implemented in Opera.

Third crash on closing it, with 'memory address could not be written'. It looked good, but I'm going back to Firefox

Yeah I have Opera, Firefox3 and Swiftfox on my laptop.
I think the multi process thing is going to be in IE8, but definitely isn't in Opera which tends to go for a low memory footprint approach. They do have the whole minimal interface and the start page thumbnail grid thing. It seems like it's going to be fairly RAM heavy so it might not be the best fit for my 256MB lappy.

They've now released the source code so you can build it for Linux
http://dev.chromium.org/getting-involved

Apparently it's a bit stripped down from the main release though
