Saw a $cientologists office/temple thingy in London at the weekend and it vexed me much. The word needs to be spread. Keep the chuff away from them!

There's a recruitment office in the centre of manchester now. I have no idea why there's no proper investigation and outlawing of this evil cult (in this country anyway). I could go on, at great length, about the monstrosity of this organisation but I'll spare you all the lecture. Just stay the hell away from them.

Also, whilst clambake.org (or xenu.net) contain some hilarious and forbidden texts, they also have the most vicious and well-funded army of internet lawyers in the world, so please don't post any of their copyrighted material here. We're a low-profile forum but even a slight chance of a lawsuit for Spanners would be best avoided. If I sound paranoid, you haven't read enough xenu.net yet
Thank you!

Yeah not wanting to kill the thread like but I'm only a poor engineer innit. I can't afford a lawsuit.
Here's a link to the true story of L Ron Hubbard. Very long but worth reading.

Spread the word. Keep away from them. They need to be stopped.

They've had an office in Manchester for many years now, somewhere on Deansgate. At least 15 - 20 years I'd say. I remember being firmly told at an early age by my mother that no, I couldn't go and have a free personality reading, even if it did only take an hour... Near miss there.

Cheers ma!

Looks like they finally threw enough money at the McPherson case to make it go away

[Edit: You'll need to paste the above into the address bar and replace the $ with an s.]

I can imagine the meeting - 3 members of the family and their cousin Vinny who's a lawyer on one side of the table and 30 men in black suits on the other,
"You can have a heap of money and never speak to anyone about this again, or we can trash your lives forever."
Smile, grin, wink.

A sneaky trick to brainwash people.
Or have I broken the laws of reasonable cynicism.

Shit!

I just got that too. The advert engine picks up keywords from the forum, and it would appear, the very page you're on to give a list of related topics. Customising the ads to the page to get better response.

I may be able to outlaw certain topics. Let me look into it.

That's quite creepy. So much for our cunning dollar signs and suchlike. It'd be interesting to know if the process that scans the page is just wise to the use of a $ symbol, or if it's working on combinations of words, or even following links?

I'd guess the combination of 'brainwashing' and 'evil cult' was enough

Bumping 'cos these guys have been raising their profile in both Birmingham and Manchester lately. If anyone stops you on the street and offers you a free stress test then RUN AWAY!
Hot spots being New Street in Brum and Picadilly Gardens outside Superdrug in Manchester.

Ah, I got stopped on New Street by people asking me if I wanted to take a free stress test.

I don't generally do these things anymore after I once did a free beer test and didn't get given any free samples. Simply had to say which beer and packaging I preferred, biggest disappointment ever.

They seemed such friendly people and all, caring about my stress levels.

Tip: They usually hunt their victims in packs of 2 or 3 - a senior member and 1/2 'sea org' skivvies. If you get approached on the street, just mention 'Xenu' or ask if they've heard of OT4, loudly enough for the boss to hear, and watch how fast they get whisked away

With a bonus 8% chance of being able to to see how fast you get whisked away too, before being fed rice pudding laced with heroin and dog food and then interrogated and subverted and released back into the population...

Just walked past a coupla $cientologists receiving the fury from a policeman. Go on son, I knew I paid taxes for a reason

Still though, New Street in Birmingham is becoming akin to a warzone. You need to keep your wits about you, be alert for trouble coming from up ahead and leaping forth from sidestreets. The best thing is to keep walking fast and don't stop for anyone.
There are, however certain 'safe' areas such as Tesco and Superdrug that you can use for breaks in your journey.
Let me lay it out for you. Circles mark classic spawning grounds for the five main adversaries of New Street -

Red = Big Issue salesmen - Danger level 2
Green = Ambulance chaser, "where there's blame there's a claim" lawyer twats - Danger level 4
Blue = Market researchers - Danger level 1
Yellow = Christian fundamentalist preachers (primarily weekends) - Danger Level 6
Purple = $cientologists (usually 2 young ladies offering you 'stress tests')- Danger level 10!!!!!

Not however that I don't really regard Big Issue salesmen as a danger, but the one by Waterstones is often drunk and a little loud.

On a similar theme, I have had to devise strategies at work for avoiding a seriously freaky cleaner man who perves over all of the women here. He stands on the stairs for hours of a morning, pretending to polish bannisters and doors. Then when you walk past him he mutters something about 'gorgeous not being a strong enough word'. Yuck, yuck, yuck.

It is the only time I use the lift at work...

I still reckon you should tell the fundies exactly what L. Ron said about Jesus and watch the ensuing battle

Clara: That's terrible, has nobody lodged a complaint?

Several - nothing done as yet. He also stands in the balcony above our sports hall when the staff exercise sessions are on. (Must point out that I work at a college that specialises in sport therefore we get certain perks - we aren't forced to undergo aerobics as part of the contract!!!)

So if anyone fancies coming to York to act as protector, you are most welcome!!!

I actually found this to be a more interesting page than clambake:
http://bernie.cncfamily.com/sc/irc_intro.htm

It's an ex-member arguing against the critics... It gives it a little bit more credibility in my eyes, but then I've never really scratched the surface of this whole area, so...

Whichever way you look at it the basis of the 'religion' is that everyone's body is posessed with the ghosts of massacred aliens (thetans).
Once you've given them enough cash they'll give you OTIII which can be found here in L Ron's actual handwriting - http://www-2.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/OTIII/ . You wouldn't think anyone would ever buy that (or even understand it, here is a decryption using additional verified sources - http://www-2.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/OTIII/minton-essay.txt) would you? To me that's all the proof of the brainwashing I need. Lower members are aware of the existence of OTII but don't know what it is, they are told that if they learn it before they are 'ready' they will become seriously ill.
Oh yeah and also they'll eventually sell you an ammeter for a few thousand to help you remove the alien ghosts.

"Writing for a penny a word is ridiculous. If a man really wants to make a million dollars, the best way would be to start his own religion" - L Ron Hubbard

And even more worryingly, they've been implicated in the deaths of several people (e.g. the McPherson case above), make it impossible for anyone to leave the cult once brainwashed without having their lives ruined, and have a legal team with more funding than most small countries ready to sue anyone and everyone at the slightest provocation.

Lovely bunch of people. Oh, and they're currently marketing themselves to big businesses with a Dianetics-based approach to management, so enjoy your corporate L-Ron Fests - due anytime soon!

I just pray the British government does the sensible thing soon and outlaws them like Germany has.
